THE PROJECT

Menaggio (CO)

The project addresses the direct relationship between a lakeside building and the shoreline. The composition distinguishes a textured, stone-clad base in close contact with the water from lighter, more compact upper volumes. This arrangement makes the different parts of the building clearly legible.

Circular openings introduce a distinctive feature to the elevations, alongside glazing and wider outlooks. Terraces and walkways follow the building’s perimeter, connecting spaces at different levels. The project reorganises the relationship between routes, rooms and the waterfront, making the most of the building’s position and its close connection with the water and mountain landscape.
